"Hello, How Are You?" is a Trick Question - Do You Know the Right Answer?

People usually get the answer wrong when they first start out trying to think positively. We did.

We Attract What We Say

The universal law of attraction says that we attract to us whatever we say. So, if our answer to the simple question, Hi, How are you? is something like okay, that means you will be just okay.

Do You Want to Feel Great?

Maybe you want to feel great. Why not? Wouldnt everyone like to feel great? If we want to attract feeling great, our answer to this question, whether we actually feel it or not at the moment, should be I feel just great!

Saying it Makes It Happen

Study after study tells us that when we say something, we make it happen. If we talk about how bad it is, we just get more bad things, says Jack Canfield, author of "Chicken Soup for the Soul."

Whatever we concentrate on is what fills up our lives. By being critical and picky we set ourselves up for being unhappy. Negative thoughts make us negative people. People will think of us in a critical way, and will be picky about what we do. We attract those thoughts from others.

Negative Thoughts Cause Stress

Rhonda Byrne, author of the blockbuster book and video, "The Secret," tells us that a negative thought is the beginning of stress, and stress causes illness. Changing to positive thoughts of love and gratitude removes stress and brings good health.

A sweet active lady in her 90s, Ann Rivers, living in a retirement home, tells her fellow residents how to talk to their grown kids. She says most conversations of her friends go this way.

The Way NOT To Go

Hi, Mom, how are you? And Mom follows with a complete medical report, including the number of trips to the bathroom during the night.

Save the medical report for the doctor, Anne says. Your kids will call you more often. Say something positive.

Words and Thoughts Create Our Lives

When someone asks me how I am, I say marvelous or fantastic or never been better. This day is a new adventure and I am the chief explorer in charge. This day is mine to shape and enjoy any way I want.

Annes kids call her every day. Anne knows that Hello, how are you? is a significant question. It is a real question, not a trick. Anne knows, along with the sages, that our thoughts and words actually create our lives.

We can consciously create our daily lives by staying aware of our thoughts and words and choosing them with an eye to how we want to feel.

Some Good Choices of Things To Say

Here are some choices for answers to the how are you question. These words will change your emotions and experiences from negative to positive.

Do You Know That You are the Creator of your Life?

The little known dynamic of life is that we are the creators of our own lives. All of the great thinkers and inventors of life have understood this. Now the word is out to all of us. We create our own lives, and our own happiness. We do it through our thoughts and our words. It starts with a simple,

Hello, how are you? What do you say now?

Let your thoughts and words soar out ahead of you. Pick yourself up out of that funk and start a new life today. Tell yourself that you are in charge now and things are GREAT.

Three Famous Blondes all Dead: Marilyn Monroe-Jayne Mansfield-Anna Nicole Smith

On the sad news that Ann Nicole Smith had died in Florida, I naturally reflected on Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield. Anna Nicole recently lost a son and gave birth to a baby. Her death will continue to generate a frenzy because there is money involved. The father of her child will be first in line with a blood sample to be checked against the DNA of the baby, the obvious inheritor of Smiths wealth. That wealth could be humongous after the courts decide on what she should inherit from her aged husband.

The first thing I said to my wife was that Anna Nicoles death would probably be interpreted as murder. I dont really think that she was murdered but if she was found dead like Marilyn Monroe, someone is going to start the murder myth. I hope I havent started it here right now. Tomorrow the autopsy will be held and eventually the results will be revealed to the public. By then the murder theorist will have a well developed scenario and they will use the autopsy to reinforce it. The motive will be murder, of course.

I wrote an article on Marilyn Monroe and showed how theorist develop what I called obvious truths. UFO-ologist use that tactic all the time. The media loves stupid thinking and will join on the bandwagon. A good story can make you a good deal of money on the lecture tour and by authoring books.

Anna Nicole seemed to have little talent other than gaining publicity. Like many nobodies with great bodies she started as a Playboy Bunny. Hugh Hefner said he hoped that she was now happy with her brother. I didnt know that Hugh actually believed in anything of a religious nature but I guess he does. Marilyn Monroe on the other hand had acting talent. Jayne Mansfield, who died in a horrible automobile crash, was probably in between the two talent-wise. A good summary of Anna Nicoles life can be found at http://www.hollywood.com/news/3654096

It saddens me to see young lives cut short. The media attention to a famous person can cause disaster. They thrive on the media but the media and money drives them to drink and drugs. James Deans death at age twenty-four is a good example where money put him in fast cars and reckless behavior. Dean was a talented actor and is still missed by his fans. Read about the car accident at http://history1900s.about.com/od/1950s/qt/deandies.htm

It seems that the celebrity life goes double time. Jayne Mansfield died racing to get to New Orleans in the wee hours of the morning. Her three children survived. Read about the death of Jayne and a number of other celebrities that died in auto accidents at http://www.who2.com/deathbycarcrash.html including Princess Grace (who may have suffered a small stroke ) and Princess Diana.

I hope that Jaynes death will be a warning to other celebrities with more money and than they can spend and more fame than they can tolerate. That includes athletes who are not use to celebrity status or money. The call to fame can be very rapid in our media circus. Many celebrities we old folks dont even know other than we see them on television walking down a red carpet dressed to the Tee. We dont know why they are celebrities but they are in some obscure soap opera or such where we never see thembut they have money.

Here is some advice for celebrities that were not born rich and dont know how to handle money and fame:

Stay away from drugs and avoid excessive drinking of alcoholic beverages. Prescription drugs can destroy you. Dont go to multiple doctors for prescription drugs. Some over-the-counter drugs are not safe.

Dont drive and drink. Avoid high speed and reckless driving and stay out of cars having such a driver. Wear your seat belt.

Learn how to manage your money and dont trust others with your money to the extent that gives them control. New friends and experts can hurt you. Trust the banker in your home town if you know one well. Let him lead you to proper asset management.

Dont over do it. You have to have some time off from work. Drug usage is often because of overwork.

Why am I writing this? Celebrities dont read my stuff.

Well, the rules are good for everyone.

Rest in Peace, Anna Nicole.

Drug and Alcohol Addiction and Rehabilitation

Just what is addiction, you asked? Addiction is a physiological dependence on something, and is both physical and psychological in nature. When a person is addicted they literally need to feed that addiction constantly. Addiction is a traitor it sneaks up on you. People who are addicted often do not recognize that they have a problem, they think that the problem is with everyone. Addiction is different from abuse, a person can abuse drugs and not be addicted. The two most vital factors in determining addiction are tolerance and physical dependency. Addiction is very destructive, and most of the time people who are suffering from it end up hurting themselves and their love ones. It is hard to overcome but once the person began to see addiction as a problem in their life they can immediately seek alcoholism treatment or addiction treatment.

Teens partying late at night and imbibing drugs and alcohol for added fun, often dominated the silver screen. Quite a pretty picture isn't it? Oftentimes teens see it as an epitome. Although Hollywood does its part to show a different side of alcohol and drug addiction with movies like "Trainspotting" and "Girl Interrupted", the character still ended up being glamorous and ideal in nature and often overshadows the dark side of addiction. It is important to look at this depiction with a cynic eye. Movies are after all for entertainment purposes only, and there is nothing remotely entertaining about the reality of alcohol abuse and drug addiction. Addiction can be hell on earth and life in an Alcohol rehab and Drug Rehab can be a nightmare.

Illegal drugs and alcohol are addicting. Records show that the younger you are when you experiment with illegal drugs or alcohol you are more prone to become an addict in the future. Addiction often runs in families; you do not choose addiction, addiction chooses you. Experimenting with drugs and alcohol is a gamble, and the stake is your life, your personality, and your future.

Individuals often hide their drinking or deny that the fact that they have a problem. Signs of a possible alcoholism include having friends or relatives express concern, being irritated when people comment on their drinking, feeling guilty about their excessive alcohol consumption and thinking that they should moderate it but finds themselves unable to do so, or needs a morning drink to steady their nerves or relieve a hangover.

On the other hand, drug dependence often begins with the misuse of legal drugs like prescription drugs and inhalants. Inhalants are legal substances that becomes illegal when use in a manner that causes a person to get high. These also include aerosol cleaners, gasoline, cleaning fluids, butane, and acetone. These things are legal to sell or buy however, they are not controlled substances and they are relatively cheap when compared with drugs.

People with addiction work hard to resolve them, and with the support of family members and friends they are able to recover on their own. However in most cases, people they usually cannot stop drinking or using drugs by willpower alone. A lot of them require outside help, mostly from Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehab. Alcoholism treatment and addiction treatment may need medically supervised detoxification to avoid possible life-threatening withdrawal symptoms such as seizures and convulsion. Once they are stabilized, they need help resolving psychological issues associated with their problem drinking.

There are numerous methods available for treating alcohol problems and substance abuse. However not one approach is guaranteed to be successful for all individuals. Writing Your Life Story - Tips And Techniques For Success

Once a luxury of the rich and famous, technology has, for the first time in history, made it possible for anyone to capture, share and preserve their most precious life stories. With the advent of computers, the Internet, digital photography, video, and audio, anyone can capture the richness and texture of their life stories. These personal histories will be appreciated by family, friends, and future generations.

Today it is possible to easily blend the art of traditional biography and memoir with powerful new technologies into a new form of individual life storytelling: the personal life history. Personal life histories are satisfying to create. And, because of the interactive multimedia possibilities inherent in computers and the web, a well-done personal life history can be rich and fully rounded in ways that are impossible to achieve in text-only memoir or biography. But most importantly, personal life histories preserve vital individual and family stories. And, when properly done, they will last for generations.

In this article you will discover how to use time-honored life story writing techniques along with the latest technologies to create a story that is uniquely "you."

The Art of Traditional Life-Story Formats

For anyone interested in creating their own autobiography, memoir or personal life history, it is important to understand the distinctions between these forms of telling one's own life story. To over-generalize for a moment, an autobiography is more fact-based, while a memoir is more emotion-based.

Autobiographies are written by the subject, sometimes with the collaboration of another writer. Autobiographical works take many forms, from intimate writings made during life that are not necessarily intended for publication (including letters, diaries, journals, memoirs, and reminiscences) to the formal autobiography. Interestingly, the autobiography format does not necessarily have to be true. It may also be a literary fictional tale.

Memoirs are a form of personal recollection that has grown enormously in popularity in recent times. Memoirs often focus on more subjective recollections such as memories, feelings, and emotions and are generally written from the first-person viewpoint. The memoir is often focused on capturing certain meaningful highlights or moments.

In his own Memoir, Palimpest, Gore Vidal writes that "a memoir is how one remembers one's own life, while an autobiography is history, requiring research, dates, facts double-checked."

Memoirs usually focus on a brief period of time or a series of connected events (an autobiography covers a longer time period). In a memoir, the writer is usually retrospective, and contemplating past events. Memoirs may incorporate the techniques of storytelling such as setting, plot, conflict, character development, foreshadowing, flashback, irony or symbolism. And lastly, writing one's memoir often has a therapeutic effect for the writer.

Oral History Recordings

An oral history is a verbatim transcription of an interview, left in the narrator's exact words. These are usually left in a question-and-answer style and are an economical way to preserve family stories. A recording system with a good-quality microphone and a quiet spot free from interruptions are all that is really needed to capture an oral history. It helps to have questions prepared in advance of the interview.

Oral histories are usually recorded using analog tape or digital recording equipment, but it is also possible to record directly into a personal computer. Oral histories are often transcribed (typed or word processed) into a document format. The conversational style is appealing for its easygoing informality.

Caveats: Recording formats and standards are constantly evolving and could become difficult or impossible to play back if the equipment becomes obsolete. Taped recordings decay over time.

Video History Recordings

Do-it-Yourself: At the basic level, it's easy and fun to create a basic video history. Camcorders are relatively inexpensive, and many computers today come with basic editing software. Capturing a good video history shares all of the same prerequisites as an audio recording: a quiet spot, with questions prepared in advance. Plus, you will want an uncluttered background, flattering lighting, and right clothing to improve the quality of the end product. White shirts, pants or dresses, for example don't show up well on video. Likewise, busy patterns can be distracting. Solid light-colored neutrals or pastels are usually safe.

Professional videographers: A large number of professional video companies specialize in the creation of life story productions. Productions may range from a 10 or 15 minute short to an hour or longer mini-movie, complete with titles, music, and other Hollywood-style effects. Naturally, you'll pay more for a professional production than a homegrown effort.

When selecting a professional use all the usual smart-consumer tips. Ask for references. Ask to see samples of prior work. Get all costs, production timetables and commitments in writing. It's delightful to have movies of an individual or family. When well-executed they often have entertainment value and are great for special occasions.

Caveat: As with audio recordings, formats change over time, and media can degrade, even with proper storage methods

The Integration of Art and Technology: Web-Based Personal Life Histories

Just in the last few years, the Web has emerged as a powerful new medium for creating and sharing life stories. On the web it is not only possible, it is enjoyable and easy to create a rich multimedia story with text, photos, audio and video. This is the new format of the personal life history.

Web-based personal life histories enjoy several advantages over paper-based publishing, audio, video, or even CD life stories. Specifically, Web-based publication is updateable-one can add new information at any time. It is easily shareable among friends or family. The most advanced sites offer choices of privacy and security protection. The web is also multimedia, meaning you can add text, photos, audio, and video. Photos, audio, video are never lost, damaged destroyed. An finally, many sites offer print-on-demand, allowing you to create instant books. The books may be printed on your home printer, or sent out to small-run publishers. If you choose the small-run option, be sure to specify archival quality paper.

One of the biggest advantages of web publishing is the ability to build community around similar interests, occupations, backgrounds or life events. For example, a WWII veteran pilot who posts his story to the Web and makes it available to the public may be contacted by long-lost friends, other veterans, students, historians, museum personnel, or others interested in this pivotal chapter in American history.

Why Create Your Personal Life History?

Mark Twain once said: "There was never yet an uninteresting life. Such a thing is impossibility. Inside everyone, there is a drama, a comedy, a tragedy."

A personal life history can be as short as a few pages, or several volumes in length. Whatever the length or medium, it requires thoughtfulness and sometimes quite a bit of work to accomplish. But the work is worthwhile because it has the ability to influence generations ahead. Your personal life history may leave a legacy for your children and grandchildren. As with memoir, writing a personal history allows you to examine and reflect on your life up to the present day. It lets you add your story to the larger historical record of your family, city, and country. And lastly, if you don't do it, who will?

Start with a Timeline of Life Chapters

How does one start to tell the story of a life that may cover 60, 70, 80 years or more? Often it's helpful to create a chronological timeline of major events in your life. It helps to jot down a few notes around key phases in your life. In fact, you may already be thinking of your life as a book, with separate, distinct chapters built around important life episodes.

Of course, not everyone's life follows an identical chronological sequence, but here are a few ideas for chapter headings for your book or story. GreatLifeStories.com uses the following "chapters" to organize life stories:

Your Beginnings

In Your Neighborhood

School Days

Off to Work

Romance and Marriage

War and Peace

Triumphs and Tragedies

Words of Wisdom

Humor

Words of Gratitude

The chapter system is very flexible. For example, you don't have to start your life story with the days of your birth and youth. Perhaps you had a fascinating experience during the war. As with a movie, you might open your life story with that "scene," then tell the story how you got there.

Once you've got an idea for the "flow," of your story, here are some more specific guidelines to help add color, texture, and authenticity:

  1. Just start writing! Do a mind dump. Get it out of your head and down on paper, the computer, the tape recorder, wherever. Don't worry about how it sounds. Just write. Resist the temptation to edit yourself; there will be time for editing later.
  2. Be yourself. Don't worry if your grammar or spelling isn't perfect. Write it as you would say it.
  3. Honesty is everything. The best writing tells it like it happened.
  4. Include humor. Favorite jokes, stories, anecdotes
  5. Detail, detail, detail. What kind of floor did the kitchen have? What color was the scarf she wore when you first met?
  6. Go at a comfortable pace. Don't try to capture an entire lifetime in a single session of furious writing. Write, allow time to reflect, and return again to writing.
  7. Consult others. Family members and friends can be invaluable sources of facts and interpretation.
  8. Use photos to jog your memory. Tip: Set out photos in a timeline of your life, starting from your very youngest days, and moving through current times. Write or record to your visual storyboard
  9. Look for themes in your life. Themes are broad ideas that are central to your life. Did you always want to be a pilot? A preacher? Own a restaurant? Be a farmer? Tell the story of how you met your goal, or how the goal changed to something else totally unexpected.

Here are just a few other thematic life story possibilities: a. The Spiritual quest b. The Confession c. The Travelogue d. The Portrait e. The Complaint f. Humor g. The Family history h. The Road to Recovery i. War Story j. Romance

Another Option: Hire a Professional

Most of this article has been focused on creating the do-it-yourself personal life history. There is, of course, the option of working with a professional. The right professional writer or videographer is a highly skilled interviewer and has the proper tools and equipment. And, believe it or not, it is sometimes easier for someone to open up in front of a stranger rather than in front of a family member.

There are many approaches to working with writers or videographers. However, there are a number of similarities in common. The writer/videographer often:

1) Meets with you to determine the scope and cost of the project.

2) Usually sets up taped interview sessions. Depending on your objectives, these may be an hour or two, or 10, 20 hours or more.

3) The recording is transcribed and edited with your input and guidance

4) Once a final manuscript/movie is agreed upon, it may be sent out for printing or duplication.

5) For books, personal history professionals recommend archival bindings and acid-free paper for longevity

6) You receive the number of books/movies agreed upon in your contract.

7) Be sure to discuss services, fees and end products in advance, and get all agreements in writing.

Thanks to high technology, the art of capturing and preserving the stories from one's own life is now open to more people and easier than ever before. A new genre of personal storytelling is emerging that draws on the literary traditions of the autobiography and memoir, while adding audio, video, and web technology to create personal life histories. On the Web, these personal stories personal life histories are multimedia, collaborative, shareable, and instantly updateable.

Enjoy capturing your life story!

Background Checks For Sunday School Teachers And Volunteers

If you have children, you have probably heard a lot about security at schools and day care centers. Many places such as this have a rigid sign in and sign out procedure and will check the identity of anyone coming into the building. Most school districts also require background checks for not only teachers and faculty, but for parents and volunteers. While it is a hassle, unfortunately, it is a necessity it today's society.

If you are involved with Sunday school, you may wonder whether or not you should make background checks for your teachers and volunteers a necessity. Here is a closer look at the pros and cons.

First of all, in these days, you must remember that security should be your top priority. You really want to have faith in your teachers and in your parent volunteers. You want to believe that they all have the best interest of the church and children in mind, but you never really know. When you require background checks, you are letting everyone know that you do truly care about the welfare of the children in the building. This says a lot about your organization and parents will feel comfortable leaving children in your care.

In addition, parents have also come to expect top-notch security when it comes to their children. They want to know that they can safely drop their child off at Sunday school, day care or school. It is comforting for them to know that each and every teacher and volunteers have cleared security checks. For this reason, many churches are now requiring such checks for anyone working directly with the children, other than a simple sign in and sign out sheet.

There are a few disadvantages of requiring background checks, but the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages. One of the cons of these background checks is the cost. If you have a small church, it may be costly for you to set up a system of background checks. You could ask your teachers and volunteers to pay for these checks, but you may find some resistance to this.

Another disadvantage of requiring background checks at churches is that it may put some people off and they may feel discouraged and not help out. They may feel that they should be trusted and by requiring a security check, you are saying you cannot trust them. While this is not true, many older people will be hesitant to hand over their social security numbers for these checks.

As you can see, there are advantages and disadvantages to requiring background checks for Sunday school teachers and volunteers. However, your number one concern should be the safety and well-being of the children entrusted in your care.

Mathematical Proof You Have To Create A Product Funnel To Maximize Product Income - Part 1

I said it earlier, you must create a high ticket product funnel. For some of you, you may not believe that. So I'm going to do the same thing with this as I just did with that little grid that we did on the subscribers. Okay, I'm going to show you why if you're going to make big money online you have to have a high ticket product funnel. Now, the first thing I want to do, is I'm going to take the number 15000.

I'm using that number because that's the number that I believe I can take anybody on this phone call to, in 90 to a hundred and twenty days, okay? Some of you are already starting at say 10 grand, I can probably help you get to 20 or 25 in 90 or a 120 days. Some of you that don't even know how to turn the computer on, you're going to have a little bit of a ramp up, so instead of 90 to a 120 days, maybe it's 120 to 150 days because you're going to have to learn how to upload a sales page, okay? So there is some things that are going to slow you down, but for the average person in this phone call I really believe you can get to fifteen grand.

I think if you know, so that's the number I'm going to use right here. Now, I want to imagine that you want to do that with a ten dollar product, so take 15000 and divide it by ten. Lets have somebody give me the answer.

Sean: 1500, okay how likely is it, that you're, that anybody is going to get to selling 1500 units of anything, even if you're giving it away for 5 dollars, what is the odds that anybody on this phone call is going to get to 1500 units a month in the next 90 to a 120 days?

Unknown: Small.

Sean: Pretty low. Pretty low?

Unknown: Yeah.

Sean: Small, okay. Very small, okay. Lets move that up to a hundred dollars. So, 15000 divided by a hundred dollars, how many would we need? How many sales would we need?

Unknown: 150.
Sean: We'd need 150. Is that a more realistic number?

Unknown: Yeah.

Sean: Okay, certainly a more realistic number, so 150 at 100. What if we had a five hundred dollar product? 15000 at 500 dollars, how many would we need to sell?

Unknown:30

Sean: There's got to be a mathematician on the phone!

Unknown: 30.

Sean: Thirty, you need to sell thirty, okay, would that be easier than a hundred and fifty units?

Would that be easier than a hundred and fifty?

Unknown: Probably.
